Joy Adjemian

Joy Adjemian was born and raised in the beautiful island of Barbados, and grew up training primarily in ballet and jazz from the age of five at The Dance Place. Joy was later introduced to modern, hip hop, different traditional West African dance forms and Afro-Cuban, which provided vibrant, more grounded mediums of movement expression. Upon moving to Canada, Joy has studied at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre’s Professional Training Program and has performed for several seasons with Ballet Creole and COBA (Collective of Black Artists), as well as working closely with KasheDance Company and Lua Shayenne Dance Company. Joy is also an emerging singer-songwriter, involved in Toronto’s queer and trans* grassroots POC artistic communities; volunteering and performing throughout the GTA.
