Shula Strassfeld is a Toronto based dancer/teacher/choreographer. From 2006-2014 she was in Washington DC as a Resident Artist and Healthy Living Coordinator with Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, an intergenerational company committed equally to creating performance work and to telling the stories of diverse communities worldwide. The latter led her to working with Jumblies Theatre Troupe in Toronto. Shula also teaches movement in the “Dance With Parkinson’s” program and facilitates workshops for people in long term care and their caregivers. She, along with Kevin Ormsby and storyteller Dan Yashinsky, recently created a performance project at Baycrest through a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. She is in the Klein Technique Teacher Certification Program; exercises designed to promote greater ease of movement and better health (certification summer 2018. Shula has extensive experience in facilitating the Critical Response Process, a four-step, facilitated dialogue that has proven to be well suited to supporting artistic works-in-progress through facilitated dialogue between artists and audience/peers.
